Art can encourage viewing things from different points of views which can help in building our empathetic thinking. Arts likelihood to place people in other peoples shoes can provide a deeper understanding of others which helps us to imagine new things. In the article “Necessary Edges: Arts, Empathy, and Education” Yo-Yo Ma states, “Empathy comes when you understand something deeply through arts and literature and can thus make unexpected connections. These parallels bring you closer to things that would otherwise seem far away.” The multiple points of view we discover through literature and art tie into what Ma mentions as unexpected connections which lead to new ideas. Since we can learn from other people and get a deeper understanding, we can build on our empathetic thinking and imagine new things.

The science has progressed beyond our ability to understand it.” Art opens up new points of views and deepens our understanding of new things which can improve the scientific studies math can’t figure out. The many improvements art can bring to the worlds understanding is out of this world.
