One part in Beck’s article that caught my eye was when she was talking about how “in order to have relationships, we’ve all had to tell little pieces of our story.” That never has occurred to me, every person in my life right now knows bits and pieces of my life story and some know more than others. Some have even experienced parts of my story with me. That is just so crazy to me. Also another part that stood out to me was when she talked about the three aspects of self that we go through to tell stories. The first is we are “actors”, the second is “agents”, and the third is “author.” We go through so many different types of storytelling stages in life and we don’t even know it. The third thing that stood out to me was how “any creation of a narrative is a lie.” We don’t even notice it but when we tell stories some parts are lies that we remember happening but our minds just imagined it. SO WEIRD. I definitely read this article as a believer, everything said makes so much sense and it really made me start thinking about myself. Like did that actually happen to me or is it my imagination? I guess I will never know, but it is part of my life story. I definitely have a connection with this text. It really caught my attention and I’m glad I read it.

I totally agree with you and I also thought that the whole relationship thing was interesting. When I read it I didn’t catch the “any creation of a narrative is a lie” and that we don’t realize it’s a lie because we are imaging it in our story. That is very weird!!!

I love the first quote you chose and how you connected it to yourself. I think you did a good job pointing out some key parts of the essay. I also like how at the end you connected it to yourself and your life story. Your blog was fun to read and I liked seeing how much you liked the essay. Good job!

I think that you highlighted a very important point that many times some people may know a part of your story or may have experienced it with you but they may not know all of it. This is something I think it very unique to the “narrative” process, each part of your life is a story whether it is big or small. Some people may think they know or have been there for your story, but you are the only person who knows exactly what has happened. This also ties in with your other interesting point that you highlighted, “any creation of narrative is a lie.” This to me means that no one will ever truly know the whole or correct story but yourself because of possible fabrication. I think you pointed out two really interesting things that Beck highlighted in his writing.

I liked all of the quotes that you picked but the first quote I totally agreed with it and what you said about at. When you said “every person in my life right now knows bits and pieces of my life story and some know more than others. Some have even experienced parts of my story with me.” I think it is so true that everyone knows something but the select few in your life the ones you trust and love know way more.
