As I reread “I am not a story” by Galen Beck, the reading was still confusing to me but I did notice things I didn’t notice before and I did have a clearer perspective after rereading it. I noticed more of his arguments and exactly why he thought Narratives are false. He thinks they are false because you can’t trust your memory, you never know what is accurate or not. He also states how Salter says “there is no complete life. There are only fragments. We are born to have nothing, to have it pour through our hands.” This quote stuck out to me because it’s true, we only remember fragments of our life, not everything, and who knows if those fragments are even true or not. Also the first time I read the article I didn’t grasp the correct understanding of some of the paragraphs. Like the introduction was confusing to me at first because I knew the article was going to contradict the other article we read but after rereading it I understand why he started it that way. He just wanted to show the other side of the story to then argue against it.
